On the 14th of March 1996, an exchange transaction came into effect between Mr. Richard de Vos Snr and Mr. Ian Blackwood.
Mr. De Vos acquired 4 Sable for his 80 Bonsmara heifers. Today, this Matetsi herd roams freely on 5000ha, with supplement feeding being received only in the winter months.
We have a 95% calving rate and no ill effects are experienced by the animals even in the sub-zero Karoo nights.
Today roaming with the herd is a Pure Matetsi Bulle measuring an impressive 46.5″
Quaggasfontein Sable are strong bodied animals and well adapted to the environment, which makes them sought after not only in our area, but throughout South Africa.
